Understanding Fillings
Composite resin bonded and shade-matched to your tooth. Decay is removed, the cavity is sealed, and nobody can see where the filling is.
Your case is assessed at consultation and you are told plainly whether this treatment is right for you, exactly what it involves, and what it costs, before anything begins.
What to expect
Assessment
The cavity is examined and, where needed, X-rayed to check how close the decay has come to the nerve.
Decay removal
All softened and infected tooth structure is removed under local anaesthetic, leaving only sound tooth behind.
Bonded restoration
Composite is placed in layers and light-cured, bonding chemically to the remaining tooth rather than just sitting in it.
Shape and polish
The filling is contoured to your natural bite, checked with articulating paper, and polished smooth.
Why patients choose Mir’s for Fillings
Invisible once placed
Composite is matched against a shade guide to your own enamel. Even front teeth are restored without a visible repair.
Cheapest moment to act
A cavity treated today is a filling. The same cavity in eight months is a root canal and a crown, at several times the cost.
No mercury amalgam
We do not place silver amalgam. Modern bonded composite is strong enough for the great majority of restorations and preserves more of your natural tooth.
Priced for your case
Every case is different, so the fee is set by the doctor once they have examined you. Competitive with other specialist practices in Islamabad, written down before treatment, and it does not move.
Your fee
Confirmed after your consultation
Fees are competitive with other specialist practices in Islamabad and are confirmed in writing by the doctor after your consultation, before any treatment begins.
What affects cost
The exact cost depends on the complexity of your case, the materials required and the number of teeth involved. You are given a written quote after your examination, before any commitment.
Before & after your treatment
Before Treatment
- ›Come in as soon as you notice sensitivity to cold or sweet. Early cavities are quick to fix
- ›No fasting or special preparation needed
- ›Tell us if you have had a bad reaction to local anaesthetic before
- ›Bring any recent X-rays if another clinic has taken them
After Treatment
- ›You can eat as soon as the numbness wears off. Composite is fully set before you leave
- ›Mild cold sensitivity for a week or two is normal, particularly on deeper fillings
- ›If the bite feels high or you are catching on the filling, come back. It takes two minutes to adjust
- ›Fillings do not stop new decay. Brushing, flossing and six-monthly scaling do
Common questions about Fillings
How long do fillings last?
Typically 7 to 10 years. Grinding, very large cavities and poor hygiene at the margins shorten that.
Will it hurt?
The anaesthetic injection is the only real sensation. The filling itself is painless.
Are white fillings as strong as silver?
For the overwhelming majority of cavities, yes. Very large restorations on back teeth may be better served by an inlay or crown, and we will say so.
What if I leave a cavity alone?
It grows. Enamel, then dentine, then the pulp. That is the path from a small filling to a root canal and crown, which costs several times more.
Can you replace old silver fillings?
Yes, and many patients ask us to. We remove the amalgam safely and rebuild with bonded composite.
Is composite safe?
We use BPA-free, certified dental composite from established manufacturers.
